I spent way too many years not taking care of myself. 4 years ago I challenged myself to sign up for a rock climbing clinic and from that moment I have worked to find exercises and fitness routines that will enhance my ability to climb. I am not very good at coming up with workout routines and love classes and workout programs. An open house at FGF peaked my interest in the FGF@Home program, which allows me to get a great workout without having to spend a huge chunk of time.
I am not a runner, in fact hate it, but in support of my sister-in-law, I completed 2 half marathons. The time was not fast but I made myself keep jogging the whole time.
After turning 40 I have discovered I have to be more conscious of what I put into my body and how I take care of it. I have discovered yoga has a huge benefit to help the aches and pains and my biggest fitness goal is to maintain a schedule of yoga at least 3 times a week (hopefully more).
My BFF Grandma always walked every day and she lived on her own well into her 90’s. I want to be that person. I want to be able to enjoy life and be active once I retire and get to live.
I have a love/hate relationship with jump roping. I know it works and it is a good workout but it never fails to make me feel uncoordinated!
Just one more…I got this
Anything with a good beat to help keep up the momentum
Getting my sweat on and having my butt kicked in a time frame that I can fit into my life. And how fun and supportive all the awesome women are! We are all at different spots of our journey, and there for different reasons, but it is all about support.
I climb at least 3 days a weeks and try to get at least 20 minutes of yoga in 3 days a week. I also personally challenge myself to get at least 10,000 steps a day.
The top of a climb…looking around at the amazing views knowing that I, under my own power, got myself there.
Live life.
Of my daughter. She is a strong woman who knows how to take care of and stand up for herself.
My mom. She is also a strong amazing woman who always provides support and never judges.
Just look one exercise ahead. You can achieve anything, but sometimes it helps to break it down in to smaller segments. Just keep telling yourself…I can do one more, be it rep, minute or even second.
